Jay S. Albanese

Dr. Jay S. Albanese is a Professor at the Wilder School of Government & Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University. From 2002 to 2006, he oversaw the International Center at the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), the study branch of the American Department of Justice. He has written numerous articles and edited 16 books.

The Niagara University Teaching Excellence Award, the Elske Smith Distinguished Lecturer Award from Virginia Commonwealth University, and the G.O.W. Mueller Award for Outstanding Contributions to Comparative/International Criminal Justice from the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, International Section have all been given to Dr. Albanese. In addition to being a past president and fellow of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, he has held the position of executive director for the International Association for the Study of Organized Crime.

He currently holds a position on the American Society of Criminology's Executive Board.
