About The Author

Deborah Bertsch

Francine Weinberg

Francine Weinberg

Ms. Francine Weinberg is an editor and author who has worked for over 30 years on high school and college English textbooks. She is the author of the handbook in The Norton Field Guide to Writing (not in its 6th Edition) and a co-author of The Little Seagull Handbook (now in its 4th Edition).

Maureen Daly Goggin

Maureen Daly Goggin

Dr. Maureen Daly Goggin is an Emeritus Professor at the Arizona State University. Her research oeuvre can be divided into four major interrelated strands: visual rhetoric, feminism, and material culture; discursively constructed racial, gendered, and sexual identities; history of rhetoric; and writing studies. These four strands are held together by a shared scholarly interest in how discursive practices are created, circulated, taught, and learned. The inter-dynamic roles they play in creating personal and cultural identities.

Richard Bullock

Richard Bullock

Dr. Richard Bullock is an emeritus professor of English at Wright State University. He directed the writing programs for over 25 years and designed the university's writing across the curriculum program and Introduction to College Writing Workshop. He was awarded Wright State's highest honor, the Trustees' Award for Faculty Excellence. In addition to The Norton Field Guide to Writing, he is a co-author of The Little Seagull Handbook.

The Norton Field Guide to Writing with Readings and Handbook 6th Edition (PDF) lets instructors teach the way they want to teach, and helps college students write in the best way for them. In the updated Sixth Edition, new coauthor Deborah Bertsch shows students how to adapt their writing to new rhetorical situations with three new chapters—Remixes, Explorations, and Reflecting on Your Writing. More inclusive than ever, the new edition features thirty new readings, including seventeen written by college students, that offer fresh and inspiring sources for writing. New videos and interactive activities in InQuizitive for Writers reveal multiple ways to understand and apply the ebook’s advice, complementing new instructor resources that respond to today’s teaching challenges.
