Hershel Raff (Medical College of Wisconsin), Eric Widmaier (Boston University), and Kevin Strang (University of Wisconsin) have taken on the challenge of preserving the strengths and reputation of Vander’s Human Physiology: The Mechanisms of Body Function. Moving outside the listing of only facts, it emphasizes the causal chains of events that make the mechanisms of body function. The basic purpose of this textbook is to present the facts and principles of human physiology in a layout that is suitable for undergraduates irrespective of academic background or field of study.

Vander’s Human Physiology, 14th edition, (PDF) carries on the tradition of accuracy and clarity, while refining and updating the subject to meet the needs of today’s students and instructors. The fourteenth edition includes a streamlined, clinically oriented focus on the study of human body systems. It has also replied to reviewer requests for more clinical applications. Physiology Inquiries are continued throughout the chapters. These critical-thinking questions linked with figures are just one more chance to add to the student’s learning experience.
